![]() ![]() This board will be introduced into our 2010 catalog as one of our most versatile designs yet. ![]() We also tested it as a quad in addition to the tri set up, and had great feed back on the all around performance of the board with both fin configurations. To make the board even more versatile, and to loosen it up a bit in smaller surf, we ended up increased the tail width and put a bit more kick in the tail. Soon after, some of our team riders began experimenting with the board in small to medium surf, and found the board to be very drivey and fast. We originally designed this board as a step up board for bigger surf, and the results were great. Glassed standard with single sided opaque laminations and minimalist logos, for a stylistically mellow 70’s gold than an in your face, 80’s bold.This X10 was inspired by Kelly Slater’s short, full nose, step up, that he rode in this years Pipe masters. Wether tossed in the bag for a“TRIP”, paddled out for punchy local beach break mornings, or saved for lined up days at the closest pumping point break, or even just a mellow vibe glide in typical daily surf, the Retro Tripper will deliver. These elements align for a forgiving and precise ride than negates the significant volume and allows nimble surfing and high speed and in critical sections. Maurice Cole has been at the forefront of surfboard design since 1990 when his revolutionary reverse vee bottom shape propelled Tom Curren to a world title. The bottom curves, with a soft rolled vee up front, blending to the slightest of single concave though center and gradually receding to a double concave vee in the tail, combine with a curvy tail rocker and wing enhanced reduction of surface area. The Flat deck, forward outline and foil, steep downward rails and wide outline make for a stable, easy paddling momentum making machine. ![]() Retro Tripper is similar to our classic #MonkFish-round pin, ridden by Cory Lopez, in his seminal Skeleton Bay segment, from 5’5” Redux.
